Sustainable design is a fundamental aspect of our Design philosophy and as well as being a Registered Architect, Sol Atkinson is a Certified Homestar Assessor.
What is Homestar?
Homestar was developed by the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) and is a comprehensive way to rate a home’s performance and environmental impact.
A Homestar Assessment awards points across seven categories: energy, health and comfort, water, waste, materials, site, home management and an optional innovation category, to achieve an overall Homestar Rating from 1 to 10.
What are the benefits of Homestar?
Undertaking a Homestar Assessment as part of a house design and construction, will ensure building techniques, construction management and quality product selections; increase the efficiency, reduce the environmental impact and reduce the running costs of your new home. A Homestar Rating is also a clear way to communicate the higher quality of your home to other parties - such as a future purchaser.
When can a Homestar Assessment be undertaken?
A Homestar Assessment can be done on any type of residential design. AHA Ltd offers this service either as a standalone service (in collaboration with other designers/developers), or as part of a new house design by AHA Ltd.
